Within poor communities around the world, the most vulnerable are generally the orphans. This is particularly the case in countries that lack basic social services and the ability of authorities to locate and provide support assistance to children. Extreme poverty leads to a lack of education, proper shelter, clothing and food. This in turn forces many to turn to a life on the street where they fall victim to gangs and crime only just to survive.
No child should have to face the heartbreak of losing one or both of their parents but when that does happen, they should be able to receive the support to help them get through the loss.
“Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “I and the one who looks after an orphan will be like this in Paradise,” putting his middle and index fingers together.”
[Sahih Bukhari]
An orphan in Islam is defined as a child who has lost his/her father or both of his/her parents. The importance Islam gives to looking after an Orphan is truly immense and follows with it a huge reward to the one who does so.
We aim to provide the orphans we support with as much care and opportunity as if they were our own children.
